An update from Small Stone HQ...

Tuesday, June 13, 2006

Well, it is has been about a month, so here goes. Both Antler and The Brought Low are gearing up for their cd release parties which will take place next week. The Glasspack has completed their new full length entitled "Dirty Women". Once we get the artwork all finalized, we will send that sucker to the plant. The new Sasquatch album "II" is also in it's final completion mode. Mr. Gooseman is currently in the process of mastering "II", then we are going to need to do the artwork thing to that one too. Both the new Sasquatch and Glasspack cds should be ready for consumption sometime in the fall. At this point, we have only heard the final Sasquatch material, and it is smokin'. As of July 1st, we will have assembled & mastered the long awaited Sucking The 70's II comp. Next stop, (you guessed it, artwork), but the usual suspects are busy working on that as we speak. When it is all said and done, we promise you that the comp will be well worth the wait. Sucking The 70's II will be hitting the streets in November of 2006. Our girl Sabine at IBD will be presenting us with tour dates in the next few days for the rapidly advancing Five Horse Johnson, Honky, Antler tour that will grace Europe this coming September. Sabine is also busy at work putting together the 2nd Small Stone Euro Tour which will be featuring: Dozer, Dixie Witch, Sasquatch, and perhaps Los Natas as well. This tour will happen sometime during the months of October/ November 2006. Finally, we are about to send two new titles off to the plant which will be hitting the streets in September or October: Slot "The Sweat Black Bear" and Giant Brain "Plume". So, who the hell are Slot & Giant Brain you ask? Well, Slot (rip) was A female fronted rock/shoegaze outfit from Ann Arbor, MI, with some heavy percussion, and tons of guitar, if you will, imagine The Birthday Party vs. Beaver, with a hint of some electric Miles Davis thrown into the mix. Giant Brain is and was the "brain child" of our long time friend Andrew Sutton. G.B. also features Phil Durr & Andy's older Brother Al doing the things that these two men do on recordings. So what does the Brain sound like? well, G.B. is a melange of Krautrock fused with both Acid & Space Rock, so think Can meets Hawkwind, Sabbath, and a little somthing extra (it is really good, just trust us). Hell, there is even talk of the Giant Brain hitting the road in support of their debut release.
