From the Brooklyn, NY heavy rock underground rises Adirondak, an unprecedented exploration in monolithic riffs and heavy psychedelia.
Psychedelic guitarist/singer Thomas Bellier (Blaak Heat Shujaa, Sonny Simmons Ensemble) and doom metal bassist Andrew Jude Riotto (Archon, Agnosis) have joined forces with hard rock drummer Jeremy O’Brien (Mirror Queen, Black Nasa) with the explicit ambition of creating something new. With Adirondak, they succeed in bringing out the best in each band member’s musical heritage, consuming the arbitrary boundaries that exist between the psychedelic rock, stoner, metal, and drone genres. The result is an incredibly original piece, boasting a mature mastery of slow riffs and heavy grooves that also unleashes expansive, cinematic visions, bringing to mind the likes of Acid King, Dead Meadow, Ennio Morricone, Earth, and Shrinebuilder. Heavier than most stoner-metal outfits, yet trippier than many psych rock formations, Adirondak sets out to establish a new high in the flourishing history of heavy rock.
Recorded by Ofer Tiberin at Momek Studio (New York, NY) and mixed by Eric Hoegemeyer, Adirondak’s self-titled debut is scheduled for a 2013 release on Small Stone Recordings. The album features a guest appearance on oud by free jazz musician Shanir Blumenkranz (John Zorn).
