Cropduster rose from the ashes of bands that pushed the boundaries of velocity and volume in the Boston area for years past. In the early summer of 2007 founders, Hoffman and Unger, set their sights on crafting a dark new sound; the sound of distant sirens approaching, the rumble of a landslide, the murmurs of deeds done in dirty doorways. After a year in the woodshed, Coughlin, Day, and Karnavas were recruited to help realize this vision. The live show, powerful and dynamic enough to consistently depress and awe, inspired the band’s first offering, a six song sample of equal substance engineered and produced by Ben Grotto at Mad Oak Studio. Cropduster sets the standard for high power, heavy hooks and spooky saunters that chill to the bone. An obscure combination of keyboard riffs, guitar echoes, and a thunderous rhythm section, Cropduster will give you a feeling of warm familiarity for a place you may not want to be. Cropduster will be returning to Mad Oak Studios later this year to record their Small Stone debut...
